Why You Should Not Mix Drinking And Driving

February 8th, 2010 Adriana Noton No comments

Ever since the invention of the automobile people have been drinking and driving. There are many people that think they can drive if they have only had a couple drinks but this is far from the truth. There is never an excuse for drinking and driving, no matter how little you had to drink.

When you take the risk and drive will drinking there are many things that may go wrong. You could end up spending the night in jail and having to pay a large fine for a DUI if you are caught driving drunk. Not to mention all of the people you are putting in danger. A DUI is the best case scenario because you could end up taking someone’s life.

You run the risk of losing a lot when you are drunk and driving. If you drive after you have been drinking you take the risk of killing yourself or someone else. You will go to jail if you wreck and the result is someone’s death. You absolutely can and more than likely will be arrested and charged with the crime of man slaughter if you kill someone will driving drunk.

Most people would have a hard time living with the fact that their bad choice caused someone to die. Of course going out and having a few drinks is perfectly fine as long as you do not drive after you drink. If you are planning to have a drink make sure you plan on a safe way to get home like a friend or taxi.

There is never a reason to drink and drive when a cab can get you there safely for only a few bucks. The few dollars you pay the cab driver to take you home could save someone’s life and it may even be yours. Never think that you can drive because you have only had one or two drinks. Many people have said that they can drive as well or better when they have been drinking but this is never true.

There is no one who can drive better while being drunk. When you and your friends go out drinking, be the responsible adult and suggest everyone take a taxi cab home. When leaving after a night out drinking ask the smart question of “what is the number for the cab”? Never ask who is sober enough to drive us home.

When you have had a couple or drinks you may not make the most rational decisions. This is why planning ahead is so important. If you plan for a cab to drive you to the club or bar then you will more than likely be taking a cab home. Ask a friend to drop you off if you plan to drink this way your car will not even be there for you to drive. This country also has a problem with teenagers driving drunk.

Set a good example for your teens and talk to them about drinking and driving. Make sure they know that drinking is harmful and that driving drunk could ruin their lives or get them killed. Too many teens have lost their lives due to drunk driving.

Why A Lawyer is Needed After a Motor Vehicle Accident

January 18th, 2010 Adriana Noton No comments

A motor vehicle accident can be a terrifying experience. However, the problems rarely stop after the accident when a personal injury is suffered. Individuals are faced with not only a wrecked vehicle, but medical bills and loss of income. The best decision that anyone can make when this happens is to get the help of an attorney.

Accidents are an unfortunate fact of life. Many times it is not even the fault of the person that caused the accident, but someone has to be held responsible for what happened. If you were not at fault, the person that was the cause of the accident will have to make amends financially to everyone else in the accident. At times, there is no other recourse but to pursue legal proceedings.

An attorney will help cut through all of the legal issues. Because these types of cases are so involved, it would be a foolish move to try and rectify it on your own. There are so many laws in affect that a lay person would have a hard time getting their hands around all of the facts and trying to present a case all by themselves.

There may also be circumstances that must be addressed. In addition to the vehicle, there may be significant medical bills that were accumulated during the recovery process. Again, the person who is at fault will ultimately be responsible for these costs. Even if you have insurance to cover a motor vehicle injury, there may be things that are not covered or that your insurance company does not want to cover because someone else was the cause of these problems.

Last, but certainly not least, is the loss of income. When people are bad accidents, there is usually a loss of income that is a direct result. Because the accident was responsible for this, that income should be able to be recovered with a legal filing. This is again why an attorney is so important as they are going to know exactly how to include all of these items in the lawsuit.

Many times, cases such as these end up being settled out of court. This is often the best solution for all parties involved as it ends the case much quicker and can usually safe the person who is at fault some money. This is usually good for the secondary party as well as the fees that the attorney gets will often be lower if they can settle the case without actually going to court.

If you don’t already have an attorney, the best way to find one would be by doing a quick Internet search to find out who is in your area. It is always best to use someone that specializes in personal injury as they will be more familiar with how things work locally and can possibly expedite the proceedings.

Nobody ever wants to think about getting into a motor vehicle accident, but when they happen, you need to know how to handle the situation. After the dust settles, someone is going to be held responsible and you can rest assured that they will have legal representation. It may be an ugly part of life, but it is also a reality and a personal injury attorney can make the whole process much easier to deal with.

After a car accident, drivers should consult with their lawyers to determine the possibility of a personal injury claim. They may also be interested in learning more about accident benefits after a motor vehicle injury.

Dangers Involved With Speeding Offences Within The United Kingdom

December 25th, 2009 Christos Chalfont No comments

Traffic accidents that have the highest rate of severe injuries are usually caused by someone who was perpetrating some speeding offences. This and driving while under the influence are some of the higher causes of traffic deaths on the roads today. Just because your car can go faster does not mean you have to do it.

Going too fast and not adhering to the posted speed limit is not cool it is unsafe. You could cause a very serious car wreck and be killed or injured yourself or the worse thing you cold cause the death of an innocent person due o your recklessness and then their would not be only speeding fines to contend with but also vehicular manslaughter charges as well.

Once caught speeding the officer can do one of two things. They can hand out a citation or give you a set date for court which you must then appear at to take care of your fines.

Speeding excessively over the limit posted on the motorway or streets can give you jail time and suspension from driving or just the license suspension for a cited period of time. This all is according to exactly how much over the speed limit you were traveling when you were caught.

If this is the case then your driving permit may be disqualified for a certain amount of time. The length is determined by how many citations you have gotten before and how much over the posted limit you were caught doing at this particular time.

Teens are not the only law breakers when it comes to speeding and causing fatalities in accidents because of bad judgement or just shear stupidit, adults also do these same things.

Speeding offences are not worth the problems they could cause even if you think no one will see you or no one will get hurt.

Do you have many Speeding Offences on your record? If you do you may need to locate some Driving Legal Advice. Make sure you don’t pay more than you really should with the right help today!

Joshua Law: Georgia Teen Prerequisite To Obtain A Drivers Permit

December 23rd, 2009 Nathan Lewit No comments

Joshua law is a ruling that was passed in 2005 to aid in lessening the growing teen driving figures. Before the Joshua Law, several teens were able to get on the road with very little driver’s instruction. This brand new law has provided some important requirements to help make the Georgia roads more secure.

The Joshua law publicly began on January 1, 2007. The ruling specifies that all 16 year old that is interested in getting a drivers certificate must complete a Joshua Law course through an certified driver education program. The course must consist of a total of 40 hours of supervised driving lessons, 6 hours of nighttime driving with a mother or father, and a sworn confirmation from the parents that these regulations have been met.

The law also states that teenagers that reach the age of 17 who have not finished a driver education course through an accredited driving school should still complete 40 hours of supervised driving training. These driving instructions will still require a sworn verification from a mother or father or guardian.

In addition to ensure that teenage drivers are more knowledgeable before receiving a drivers license, the Joshua law also qualifies parents for price cut on their insurance. Parents will receive a markdown on their insurance premium after submitting a certificate of completion from a state qualified driving school.

Out state students that are new to Georgia are not exempt. Any teen beneath the age of 18 must adhere to the regulations of the Joshua Law in one fashion or another. If a teen was granted a license from out of state, they must first make contact with the DDS before driving on Georgia transportation.

The Joshua Law is a law that was born with the emphasis on developing more skilled teen drivers and saving lives. A parents most significant job is to make certain that their children are secure. The implementation of the Joshua Law Course can go a long way in lowering the escalating teen driving figures.

Nathans Driving School is an approved teen education and georgia dui school that is approved to meet the Joshua Law Course requirements.

Failing To Name A Driver

November 20th, 2009 Christos Chalfont No comments

The laws in place that govern British motoring state that refusing to or failure to disclose the name of the driver of your car at the time of an accident is a worse crime than actually causing the accident yourself!

Many cases go all the way to court because the owner of a vehicle involved in an accident will not or simply does not name the person who was driving at the time of the accident. Although this can seem like the person is honourably protecting their friend, it is actually a very foolish decision to make. Even the best drivers in the world cant avoid accidents completely as more often than not, they are out of anyones control.

Something that is quite common when more serious accidents take place is for the driver to flee from the scene before anyone discovers him there. When the car is found, it is then traced back to the owner who must identify who was driving at the time of the accident, otherwise is faced with two potential charges, failing to name the driver, and the causing of the accident itself.

Many people dont even know the address of their drivers, and the only contact is a mobile phone number, which can just be disposed off in a trash can! So there is a learning here ” if you are employing a driver, make sure that you know all his details and if necessary, get them verified from a third party agency, so that you are not at fault when something untoward happens.

The police department says that there are thousands of cases each year when the owner of the car wants to protect his friend who has actually caused the accident, and claim that they dont know who has taken the car out. But most of these cases are proven with the help of someone else at the crime scene and the offending driver is fined for the accident and the owner is convicted for failing to name the driver ” and the latter carries a higher degree of punishment!

Driving Without A Licence

November 12th, 2009 Johann Ken Flanders No comments

One of the most serious motoring offences that you can commit is driving without a valid driving licence. Having a licence before you start driving is something that is built into our minds as a prerequisite for driving a car from a fairly young age. Yet there are still thousands of people every year caught driving without a licence.

There are various levels of driving without a license, and the most basic of them is where people forget to carry their licenses and go out. When stopped by the police, the good answer is to be honest about it, and let them impound the car or tow it away to the nearest police station. You can go home, get your license, pay the fine, say sorry (and take whatever else they may hand down to you), and come home with your car.

The real problem is when there is no license issued and we are caught on the roads. There are hundreds of violators who got away scot-free (and have put up their stories on various legal forums and even on YouTube), but the truth is that there is no real getting out of that!

Problems really start occurring when cars are involved in an accident and the driver doesnt hold a valid licence. If you are found in this situation, god help you! Depending on the laws in the particular state or county that you are in, penalties can range from having your vehicle impounded to lifetime bans on applying for a driving licence to a spell in prison.

The worst penalties however are for if you are found driving after having a ban put on your licence. Even if you are found driving during the period of a temporary ban, the penalties are more severe than with no licence all together. If you are found driving after being issued with a permanent ban on your licence, then you may as well prepare for federal prison because that’s where youre most likely to end up.

People driving without a licence is caused by a simple attitude problem. A collective understanding that the rules are there for all of our benefit and convenience will put an end to this attitude.

The Bane Of Society: Reckless Driving

November 11th, 2009 Christos Chalfont No comments

Whatever the actual reasoning behind the individuals that do it, reckless driving is the bane of the country today. Every year thousands and thousands of innocent people die on our roads because some idiot wants to put on a show to his mates. There are usually other reasons as well, and we will discuss a few of them in this article.

Reckless driving is defined as a serious moving traffic violation and is the next step up from careless driving. It carries far more penalties and convictions and the more serious reckless driving offences carry several penalties with them. Thousands have people have lost their licence because some small burst of insanity when they were young and can now never drive a motor vehicle.

Different states have different kinds of punishments for the offenders, and they are all quite serious!

Some of the more common reasons for reckless driving are as follows:

Alcohol ” As anyone could have guessed, the top reason for reckless driving is people being under the influence of alcohol while driving. The penalties for this offence is far severe than most of the other reasons because there are two laws being broken, one is of course, the reckless driving and the other is driving under the influence of alcohol.

Peer Pressure ” When driving with a group of friends it is very common for people to be encouraged to over take a particular vehicle or to just generally driver faster and the result is reckless driving. In order to be charged with reckless driving you dont actually need to crash, just to be seen (or recorded) driving recklessly is enough.

Drugs..enough said I think!

Road Rage ” This is a growing cause of reckless driving, and the most common reasons for road rage are continuous traffic jams, congestion, or it could just be bad manners!

It is not an extensive list of reasons but you get the general gist. Whatever reasoning behind it reckless driving is simply not acceptable and it is up to us as a community to put a stop to it.
